April and May News

Oxygen

Two more very busy months, with earlier and later time slots organised to meet the demand, particularly from those in work. Please let us know as soon as possible if you cannot make a booking slot. This allows us to offer the time to another person.

Physiotherapy

April was an expensive month for our physiotherapy operation. A lift breakdown requiring significant repair put pressure on the team to be creative. As ever, the Centre responded by moving some equipment downstairs so that those who could not reach the first floor could still exercise.

The treadmill decided to give up the ghost too, so we are now trying to raise funds for a replacement. If you can help in any way, please contact Jo at the Centre. The treadmill offers a safe environment for those with less mobility to exercise safely and strengthen leg function.

The new group arrangements are operating successfully. We are asking participants to sign up each week to guarantee their preferred time slot.

May has been much calmer, but still very busy for our physiotherapists. More training is planned to help us make even better use of the Litegait, and get to grips with virtual reality headsets.

Group Physiotherapy sessions:

Tuesday12:00Upper body weights and resistance bands
Wednesday13:00Lower limb carousel
Thursday11:30Upper body weights and resistance bands
Thursday12:30Upper body weights and resistance bands

The Litegait offer remains in place – £180 for 15 sessions. These sessions must be prebooked with the physiotherapy team.

40th Anniversary

April allowed centre members the chance to build their skills at the Leicester Wheels for All cycle event at Saffron Lane Athletics Track on Sunday 13 April 2025. Photographs and a report of the day are now on the website.

May was the month for daredevils to tackle the Zipwires at Bethesda Quarry in North Wales. Saturday 10th May was the chosen date. Warm spring weather and clear skies allowed participants to enjoy their experience to the full. A fuller report with images has been added to the website.

Planning for our celebratory party on Saturday 16th August 2025 are continuing apace. The entertainment options are booked, including a casino, live music, disco and buffet meal and bar. Jo is signing people up to guarantee their places. An event definitely not to be missed. We are also seeking sponsors to help fund the event. More sponsorship needed!!
The back waxing sponsorship total is steadily increasing, but we still need more contributions to reach our £1000 target. Roger and Brian will be devastated if they are unable to complete their challenge because we didn’t meet our target. We can’t disappoint them, surely.

We are hoping to keep participation costs low on all these events to enable as many centre members as possible to participate. We are looking for businesses and individuals who might be willing to sponsor some of the events. If you can help, or know someone who can, please contact Jo at the centre 0116 255 7104 or mstherapylc@icloud.com for more information.

It’s fair to say that our 40th birthday celebrations are emphasising the ethos of LMSTC. Our community may have a few health issues, but that is no reason to stop us from living life to the full. It’s what we CAN DO, nothing is impossible!
