December News

December is a very unusual month because it is the only time in the year when the LMSTC closes for more than 3 days! Although even then the building was open to help the car parking team. Once again, the oxygen chamber, physiotherapy and complementary therapy rooms have been fully utilised and the Centre has been lively and buzzing throughout the month.

Physiotherapy News

2024 has been very busy. The purchase of the Litegait and Invictus machines have increased the options available to centre users. Wednesday’s lower limb group class has helped many people to strengthen their core and leg muscles. Sadly, although really successful and beneficial our access to the hydrotherapy pool has been lost. Hopefully we will find a new option in 2025.

The physio team have welcomed over 30 work experience students.

Every student benefitted from real time, hands on experience, helping them gain valuable skills to take into their future careers. The students bring great energy to the centre and provide lots of extra support and encouragement for all of us.

Overall, a great year for the physio team.

Oxygen Chamber news

The oxygen chamber has been really busy with extra sessions added on many days. It is great to be able to help so many more people. Massive thanks are due to Jo, Howard and Roger for taking on the extra sessions, ably supported throughout 2024 by Dot, Rich, Peter and, much missed, Nick. We will be reviewing our operating times again during 2025 to ensure that the chamber is accessible to as many people as possible.

Archer’s Tractor Run

Undoubtedly the highlight of December for many people, Archer’s Tractor Run 2024 took place over the weekend of 21/22 December.

The weather was cold and windy which wasn’t encouraging for spectators or bucket collectors, but, over 400 wonderfully decorated vehicles provided a spectacular seasonal start to the Christmas celebrations.

Massive thanks to Ryan and his team for all their hard work and dedication to fundraising, and to the willing volunteers who carried the collection buckets.

Donations are still coming in via GIVE Wheel. To donate please click here.

Christmas raffle and Christmas meal

The annual Christmas raffle and Christmas meal provided lots of entertainment for all and were a fitting way to celebrate the end of 2024.

Our condolences go to all the family and friends of these lovely people. The Centre keeps a book of condolences, and family members and friends are welcomed to contribute.

2025 – a Special Anniversary

January will mark the start of a special year for the LMSTC. The Centre will mark its’ 40th birthday in July. Thanks to all the hard work of centre staff, volunteers and fund raisers in 2024 we start out in a healthy position, but we will need to redouble our efforts to raise funds as the year progresses.
Planning for suitable ways to celebrate our special anniversary is underway with more details to follow in the coming months.
