January and February 2025 have carried on as 2024 ended with the LMSTC being even busier. After a brief closure for the Christmas and New Year celebrations, we have been delighted to welcome back staff and members for what promises to be an exciting year for the Centre.
Oxygen News
Demand for the oxygen chamber means that most sessions have been fully booked and extra sessions have been organised regularly. Thanks to Jo, Howard and Roger for covering these extra chambers.
Physiotherapy News
The physiotherapy team have been busy too. Demand for group physio has led to a second Thursday session being offered with some minor time changes.
Group Physiotherapy sessions:
Tuesday 12-00 Upper body weights and resistance bands
Wednesday 13-00 Lower limb carousel
Thursday 11-30 Upper body weights and resistance bands
Thursday 12-30 Upper body weights and resistance bands
Please make sure you book for your preferred group slot as drop in sessions may not be possible.
We are also hosting three new physiotherapy and sports injury students. They will be supporting Mo, Arnold and Joy, and this has also allowed us to offer women’s Sports massage appointments during February.
A generous donation from Ashley has provided new pneumatic tyres for our wheelchair, so the Invictus machine can now be booked and used to its’ full potential.
Fundraising News
As previously reported, the Archers Tractor Run entertained people in Rugby and South Leicestershire on the weekend before Christmas.
The event raised over £40,000 for the 4 nominated charities, and the LMSTC is really grateful for a donation of £10,320.
Massive thanks to Ryan and his team who organised this fabulous celebration; to all the brilliant participants who created such a spectacular display of decorated tractors; to the volunteers who braved the wind and rain to carry out bucket collections; and, of course, to all who contributed funds to raise such a large sum for charity.
First Aid Training 25 February 2025
Several staff members and volunteers successfully completed their First Aid at Work training, and certificates have been awarded. This has ensured that the Centre is well prepared to assist anyone should they need First Aid.
2025 – a Special 40th Anniversary

Plans are now underway to help us celebrate our 40th birthday.
February has seen many centre members taking the 40km Challenge.
Centre members will be challenging their bodies to achieve a 40km distance in 40 days on their chosen exercise machine – Cross Trainer, Treadmill, Litegait, Cycle, Punchbag or a combination of each.
We wish everyone good luck with both the challenge and their sponsorship.
Friday 28th March will offer a chance to celebrate with a Cream Tea.
Liz, Hazel, and Angela will be coordinating the event. Booking in advance has been necessary through Reception at a bargain donation of £10-00 per head. A guarantee of tasty, home-made goodies will make this an event not to be missed. All places have quickly been filled, and 40 centre members are looking forward to their Cream Tea.
Sunday 13th April will have another challenge with a cycling event at Saffron Lane.
Participants will be able to try a range of adaptive cycles, targeting 40 laps of the 400m track, a total of 10 kilometres.
Our celebratory party has been booked for Saturday 16 August 2025.
Full details will be released in the near future, and Jo is reserving places for this event which promises to be the highlight of our birthday celebrations. Places are filling fast so add your name to the list quickly.
Special thanks to UNR Automotive for supporting our party.
